I knew it was going to be tough, and that was exactly how I trained for it. But nothing can really prepare you for a course as technical as this ⛰️

180km with over 2,400m of elevation. The course difficulty rating was 93 out of 100 🤯

The first climb reminded me of Arthur’s seat, the shortest of the 3 major climbs but also the sharpest. We had a small break downhill before taking on what we affectionately called ‘the gorilla’ 🦍

19km of steady uphill, not steep but longgg. For the locals, it’s like continuous loops up the 1 in 20.

By the 80km mark, most of the big climbs were done and now I had to mentally prepare for another 100km in the legs.

The remainder of the course was either slightly up, very steep descents, traversing through towns (over speed humps) or leaning into corners. Not much flat or straight terrain. It honestly felt like a rollercoaster, and I was mentally switched on the whole time.

After the final climb, I weaved my way down for 16km, the last big descent for the day before it flattened out as we came back into T2.

Time to do what I do best, RUN 😀

It’s hard to believe that it’s over a week since finishing the Ironman World Champs, and every time I think about the race it brings back so much joy 🥰

Starting with the swim 🏊‍♀️

It was so much BETTER than I expected. I had a dream swim - like, when things actually go according to plan 🙌

I started as the first wave behind the pros (which I was a little nervous about) I found my rhythm, stayed a little wide from the pack, and it felt comfortable in the water (for once!)

No chaffing ✅

And I was smiling as I run into T1 😁

After a half decent sleep, and many croissants for breakfast I’m feeling semi-human again and ready to write my race recap for #medalmonday

3.8km 🏊‍♀️ I had a surprisingly great swim, considering it’s my weakest discipline and even managed to knock 10mins off my swim time from my previous Ironman. I was very happy about that!

180km 🚴‍♀️ the ride was beyond challenging. Climbing and descending the hills of the Pyrenees mountains, with a total elevation gain of over 2,400m was a beast. I was slow in the climbs from the get go, and with endless opportunities to go flying 1,000’s of feet off a cliff on the descents, I had to be so careful. By the time I got back to the promenade for the run, my legs were totally cactus 🌵

42.2km 🏃‍♀️ the marathon is always my best part, and I’m not sure how I was able to get my cactus stumps moving, but with pure grit and determination I ran strong and clocked another PB, knocking a whopping 35mins off my previous Ironman run time 🤩

While the massive ride blow out my overall time by 40mins, I’m super stoked to gain PB’s in the swim and run.

Getting the job done was tough, but I’m super proud of my performance.

To get back to my hotel room, and see SO MANY messages from people tracking me through the night, was overwhelming. I truly felt your love out there, and it definitely helped me across that finish line!

The big day. It’s finally here. The Vinfast Ironman World Championships! 💪

Something I could have never imagined, but also something I’ve been dreaming about for years.

Just a girl and start line. No coloured rings, no gold medals up for grabs or records to break. Just me facing fear head on, seeking to fulfil my potential and show people what’s possible.

No matter the outcome tomorrow, I’ve already won. The journey to this point has taught me more than one race ever could, but my gosh it will be amazing to finish well. Time to put the cherry on top.

Thanks to my huge support team back in Aus, I’m feeling the love from half way around globe. I wouldn’t be here today without your contribution and encouragement. My success, is yours.

Hard work, sacrifice and determination, it all leads to this. I’m putting it all on the line. Eyes on the prize. Let’s get it!!!

There are only 164 people on the planet that have completed the @worldmarathonchallenge777 and two of us were in the same room! 🤩

I’ve long admired the wonderful @heather_adventurousspirit 🌸 there are so many similarities to our journey. Not only were we both participants in the 777, we’ve been surf life savers, we went to the same high school, we’ve both done the Larapinta Trail and to top it off, Heather has a daughter called Bec 😂

We’ve known each other for years, encouraging each other from afar, and finally we met in person. Thank you @fredhawkins for connecting us 🙏

These photos were taken 20 years apart, and it’s incredibly hard to believe how much I’ve changed in two decades.

The first, with a group of fellow outdoor education students hiking through the wilderness in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. Young, naive, insecure and no idea who I am or what I have to offer.

The second, amongst esteemed guests at the recent launch of the @yarrahillssc Alumni Project, sharing about my successes, failures and experiences. Still young 😆, strong, empowered, successful and I know who I am and why I am here.

What a privilege. What a journey. And oh, how I am so very grateful.

I was stoked to knock out a Half Ironman today (70.3 miles) in prep for the big day in 5 weeks time.

1.9km swim - 0:51
90km ride - 3:36
21.1km run - 1:53
Total 113km in 6:20

A bit sluggish in the swim, conservative on the bike (featuring my first time up over Arthur’s Seat) and finished with a strong run. Rookie mistake to miss my pre-swim gel 🙄

Race execution 8/10
Fuel implementation 7/10
Support crew 10/10

I finished feeling like I could do it all over again, which is a great sign! 🤗

Training or trust? 🤔

The pursuit of peak performance as an athlete is a long one, and it’s a huge learning curve 🤯

Every session, choice of nutrition, piece of equipment and decision I make matters. It takes patience, dedication and above all else, sacrifice. Not just for me, but for everyone supporting me.

If the result equals the effort you put in, then I’m looking forward to the finish line 🏁

The depth of this journey is incredible, and today I’m reminded of two things.

⭐️ this process trains my body to work and perform at its best, but it also teaches me to trust this incredible machine I’ve got, and I do not take that for granted.

⭐️ I don’t do this alone. I am surrounded by people who are for me, that have my back at every turn, especially when it gets real tuff.

Today, I am grateful my body allows me to do this, and even more grateful to have so many amazing supporters in my corner 💙 Thank you for being on this ride 🙏
